The legend J. Rinta-Jouppi and how everything began
Jaakko Rinta-Jouppi was a farmer and businessman. In the 20ies he briefly moved to America, from which he returned to Tervajoki.

Next to farming, he also dealt with horses and farming goods. Jaakko had earned himself the reputation of an honest businessman already early on this showed for example when he would grant his customers the right to exchange a horse!

Jaakko's son Toivo also turned into a successful businessman. After the war, he enlarged his product line with agricultural machinery and developed tires for horse carriages, which were manufactured from car tires. Many of those tires were sold in the area nearby, in which had been driven only with hard carriage tires. Toivo's sons Rauno, Raimo and Reijo grew up to be hard-working helpers for their father.

In the 40ies, the family already owned a few cars, but only for their private use. When Toivo bought a 1952-Ford truck from Rovaniemi and resold the car shortly after, the car dealing business found its beginning. Within a short period of time, many more cars were purchased and resold and very soon the car business became the family's main income source. Toivo and Reijo started to search for cars from all over Finland, whereas Rauno and Raimo concentrated more on sales and administration.

Toivo Rinta-Jouppi died in 1963 and did therefore not have the chance anymore to see the immense expansion of his family's business. Rauno and Reijo suspected already early on, that the demand for cars in the future would rise dramatically.  They decided to dedicate themselves completely to their company, which during that time carried the name T. Rinta-Jouppi. The marketing name of the company however, was Rinta-Jouppi car dealership.

In the 60ies the company grew steadily. A first large sales-hall was built in the 70ies in Tervajoki, at which the company still keeps a part of its offices. The company's success also brought success for others. Tervajoki developed into a lively discussed car dealership center, which had not been seen elsewhere before. Rauno's sons Jarmo and Ari have been leading the company since then, whereas Jarmo also founded his own company J. Rinta-Jouppi Oy in the year 1987.

J. Rinta-Jouppi Oy nowadays belongs to one of the biggest and oldest car dealership chains in Finland. We have six branches in different parts of Finland: Kuopio, Helsinki, Tampere, Lahti and Lappeenranta, as well as our headquarters in Seinäjoki. We sell new cars of the brands Ford and Saab, as well as additionally about 9.000 used cars per year, of which about 1.000 are imported from Germany.
